I think this is the same as the one I have up in one of my borders, it has gone mad, but I am disappointed with it not having much flower, well it has tiny white things if you could call them flowers, and I have had it for years and never seen any berries on it until this year and there are purple berries only a few but there are berries on it. The blackbirds and robins like to nest in it so it stays, and that is the only reason I keep it.

Hmmm...I didn't know they had flowers and berries so I wouldn't have been disappointed. They are pretty municipal plants aren't they? I bought this one because it is yellow and brightens the front door...I also plan to topiary it later! I bought four of the lemon beauty variety for the front border along the drive...I'm trying to cultivate a sort of informal hedge there with small evergreen shrubs.

I just love lonicera nitida, it makes me positively drool over what I can do with it next. I'm transforming my baggesens gold into 2 warriers, (well snowmen with tall tufts on their heads), either side of one of the arches. The cuttings take ever so easily too. The OH created a hedge between the Garden and Kitchen garden about 5 yrs ago, which he has since cut down to a 5' wavy hegde. And we took no end of cuttings and planted up the maze 2yrs ago. It's about 3' now and will soon be at the 5' height. But it will mean trimming nearly 2000' of hedge to keep it tidy, But atleast we won't have to clear up the mess. that will help to mulch the grass and weeds along the paths. Infact this reply has inspired me to do another blog, and to show that the topiaries are not as grand as they sound above.

I find this a useful little shrub in the border in front of tall perenials, I chop it back to keep it the right height and it helps stop the taller flowers from flopping about.
