Mitraria coccinea - 2015

Mitraria coccinea - 2015 (Mitraria coccinea)

Chilean shrub, probably best suited to milder gardens in the south of the UK. Grows in fertile, moist but not waterlogged soil in sun or part shade, with shelter from the hottest sun. Forms a spreading shrub to six feet, but can be trained upright against a fence. The flowers are bright vermillion but not prolific. This can be a tricky shrub to get going, but find it the right position, and it should grow well.
