Arching shrub for sun or part shade reaching six feet high and wide. Like kerria (to which it is related), this suckers a bit; look out for shoots up to three feet away from the mother plant. Cutting out the oldest shoots to ground level every second or third winter keeps it from getting congested

I read a lot of nursery catalogues!
How about Dan Hinkley - he has a new book out "The Explorer's Garden Shrubs and Vines. Christopher Lloyd is another good read

Ah, Hinkley! Just got one of his Night Heron Disporum Cantoniense (solomon's seal) that awed me a few years ago. Growers & plant lovers around here OR are less than enthusiastic about George Ball's takeover of Heronswood. I'll look for his new book & like Lloyd as well: thanks. You just have exquisite taste in my book!

You must read a lot to find all these treasures and special varieties. Any winter reading recommendations? I am drawn to Ninebark anyway, often the maroon leaf ones. This is very floriferous. Thanks for growing and sharing it.
