This is completely my pride and joy, every year without fail it is stunning, it was here when we moved in 3 years ago so i don't know which variety, but it is big, i thought it maybe mountain flame Janey but it could be wrong. this one is currently about 7ft tall, dripping with flowers and the new growth is red all over, a real stunner!

to be honest San i have been gardening for many years and took soil tests for the first time ever this year! lol and that was only because it was hard to work out what is going on with my soil. my way of sorting this out has previously been so see what is already growing well in the garden, gives an indecation. You may get away with the Pieris if your soil is neutral and you give lots of acid feed and ericaous compost - part composted bark is also good. but if it's on the alkaline ph side then proberly best to put in a pot, they are quite slow growing, my big one has obviously been here for many years. good luck with it :-)
