Cutting of Plumeria 'Puu Kahea' 30 Days after being planted

Cutting of Plumeria 'Puu Kahea' 30 Days after being planted (Plumeria rubra 'Puu Kahea')

The picture shows the root development of one cutting of Plumeria 'Puu Kahea' just 39 days after the unrooted cutting was planted. This plumeria cutting was rooted in late fall of 2010.
Most plumeria growers hang on to the old belief that you have to wait 'til spring to start rooting plumeria cuttings.
But, the picture tells another story.

Bobwalshplumerias:

It's very true. The best time to start plumeria cuttings is in fall. The roots will develop in winter and the plant will usually flower during the first summer. I've done this here in San Diego several times. I like to start with 3ft/1m - 6ft/2m tall cuttings.
