A young Royal Palm enjoying the very hot weather we've been having the last two weeks. Some inland San Diego communities have had dangerously high temps to 110 degrees F. / 43 degrees C. with lots of humidity in the last 3 days. Photo taken August 26, 2010.

We have a lot of different palms here, sincerelly I began to pay attention to the trunk since I saw your picture... to find out if the ones here have the same shape.
Will take some pictures to post.

Yes, it can be difficult to identify palms...there's so many species and many look similar
