This plant really will not take the slightest hint of frost, so this is a replacement that I got a few weeks ago for my three year old one which I lost last autumn.

Me too Moti! It's one of my must have plants.

I think it'll take frost. It grows in many areas of California, even in areas where there's frost every year. Maybe it doesn't like wet and frost?

It really will not here (it was dry as I recall) - I gave it until a couple of weeks ago to recover too.

That's very strange it would be so cold-sensitive.

Seems to be the case here..........
Inferior gene pool maybe?

Or maybe, it just gets too cold there. Sometimes I wonder how cold it really gets where you live. In which climate zone do you live? I know this plant is hardy to 8b.

Delonix.. irony.. isn't it , that we in our respective zones and locations are worried about plants dying of heat and here are people worrying about frost and snow... Btw i uploaded a picture of Delonix regia for you from my garden.. check it out..

It was just a degree or two of frost that did for mine!

Meanie:
What temperature is a degree or two of frost for you? Some places can have a light hoar frost at 38ºF (3.3ºC).

Yes, irony is the word. I've had many plants over the years die from extremely hot, dry condition. I've never had a plant die from cold.
I'll check out your Delonix regia pic. We're still waiting for them to bloom here.

Our Delonix are showing off in full bloom... everywhere on the streets...!

It has to be hot there for so many to bloom so well. Delonix regia MUST have hot temps to bloom. :>)

Delonix all petals falling off because of the rain and wind...!! delicate flowers but everytime it stops raining they are back with a bang...!

Yes, the flowers want that hot and dry weather. Delonix regia does most of its major growing in hot and wet weather. This is the reason why they don't grow so large here in Southern California, we're so super dry for most of the year.
