Brilliant colour. I too have it for the first time Andrew. Is it hardy enough to survive a harsh winter? I hope we don't get another one like the last for a long time.

I can get it through a mild winter but a hard one usually kills it. It is planted in a very sheltered corner and I will mulch the roots and keep my fingers firmly crossed

Andrew what do you use for mulch? we have several new shrubs that are going to need extra care .

DD - either fronds from ferns I have cut down or shredded woody material that hasn't rotted down yet. Sometimes a friend and I go 'halves' on a bale of straw but it's not a cheap option :-(
