I planted the sweet potato at the end of September last year. As they were taking up a lot of space in the herb bed, and the leaves were turning yellow, we decided to harvest. Now they will stay in the sun for 1 week to dry.

The father of a friend grows batatas dolce - for his pigs! I asked if he had ever had sweet potato pie, which he hadn't. So he rescued a couple from the pigs and I made him a pie. I joked about how these are grown for pigs and pumpkins are grown to feed cows, that I was making deserts out of animal food. He really likes both types as pies.

True Wylie, her the sweet potatos ar also grown for animals diet, but we also use it in culinary recipes. One of the most famous french cuisine sweets is the Marron glacê, which can be cooked using chestnuts or sweet potatos. I suggest the last one.... yummie
