I have purchased our drinking water for the last 20 years..I'm afraid my plants and fish have had to go with the water available from the hose/tap though~ We used to own an exchange system..but that added salt to the water and we had to recharge the resin beds every five years. It was a pain in the neck carrying large heavy bags of salt. We live in a different area now and the water here is good but with the drought the water table is low and we must be more careful...so I can't use the garden hose as liberally as I did at the other garden. That's a problem!
You mentioned the desalination plants, D1. Is that the chief source for your water?

I've been purchasing water longer than 20 years. When I lived in Hayward a city in the San Francisco Bay Area. I never had to buy water...as the water was very good!

It's kind of of a pain buying water. This time of the year I need a lot for the household. Especially since the weather has been so hot! I make tons of ice.

The desalination plant up in Carlsbad (northern San Diego County) will not be on-line for another 3 or 4 years. We get most of our water from the Colorado River and some from up in Northern Cal.

Beautiful display shame you have to buy water like you do I have never heard of having to buy water then have to carry it home, only when camping over here would you need to do that, I have read a while back the earth is running out of water and America as years back they diverted the water . I think if we are running out I blame all these inventions using water, factory s etc all for greed not need. Bathing every day here now years ago we had one bath a week and topped and tailed each day.

It's drinking water I purchase. The water we have here in San Diego is hard water which tastes horrible!

If it tastes bitter they are adding to many metals to clean the water as my water tastes bitter and is hard I looked it up on the net.

I was so spoiled when I lived in the San Francisco Bay Area, with their Hetch Hetchy water. It was the best water.

Yes I have just looked it up you could nt get fresher water coming from the snow melt from the mountain running into the reservoir.

Mine comes from Seven Trent reserviour which is in Wales. Perhaps its the salty tase that tastes bitter to me as I ve just found this.

Yes, the Hetch Hetchy water comes from the Sierra Mountain's snow pack. It really is excellent quality water.

That's amazing it's the best tasting water in the UK! You're very lucky to have such good water. I'm sure the plants love the water, also.

I would say your Hetch Hetchy water would be better than ours coming off the Sierra mointain but yes its good to know ours is the best here . I am sure my plants do not that water them often we have enough rain here.

Yes, the Sierra Mountains are many hundreds of miles long. This year the snow pack was incredible! Making up for years of drought.

Yes, The Sierra Mountain Range is 400 miles north-to-south. It's mostly in California; however, borders on Nevada. Lake Tahoe is located in the mountain range. It's the largest Alpine late in North America. The water is emerald green because it's so very deep. It's almost 2,000 ft deep.
