Day 7 of First BOP Bloom (Strelitzia reginae (Bird of paradise))

This is day 7 of the first Bird Of Paradise bloom. I think this is full bloom. You can see how huge this flower is compared to my hand.

Thanks everyone !
Majeekahead, It's snowing outside right now here in Ohio so this pic was taken in my 'great room'. The bloom was almost near the ceiling though and with the flash, it created a black background, which I really was pleased with !

looks stunning Di, and yes they do get big, i had one that i grew from a tiny seedling that i brought back from the Canary Islands about 10 years ago, and it got so big i could'nt get it in the house, so i had to let it take it's chances in a sheltered spot in the garden. - living in the London area, i have got away with all sorts. i have a mexican yucca, and an Agave outside under fleece as we speak that are doing fine. i got away with the strellitzia outside twice, but when we moved to this house, and new, less sheltered garden, i lost it. - most upset.

Oh how sad that must have been to lose your plant. I don't know what I'll do if it comes to that with mine........I think I'll just jam it in somehow. LOL !

lol yep i would, if knew what i know now i would have done the same...i thought i would get away with it, as it had survived a couple of winters outside on the balcony at my old flat, but looking back far more sheltered than anywhere i have in my new garden. never mind we live and learn don't we.
