So pretty are these alpines.

3d - it's a form of a species tulip, and needs sun and sharp drainage. It only grows around six inches in height, so an alpine bed may well be the right way to grow it.

oh, they're lovely. I assume the "humilis" means "humble", ie small? must look them up. I've been searching for various generic words for alpine-type plants, never heard this word before.

Fran - I think humilis means low-growing. These are no more than six inches tall.
