Together these make a bold statement in a neglected pot which was not planted up for spring flowering.

It is indeed but they flowered right through until the end of January in other parts of the garden. I know they are a very common plant but I love to see them. They will have arrived in this pot in the mulch from my compost bins. The bins are not big enough to get hot enough to kill off seeds and bulbs so I do get some nice surprises. I am scrupulous about not putting weeds with seeds in to the bins. I am trying to cut down the workload in the garden and had planted sedums in this pot along with some other things. I'm very happy with it. There are three marigold but the other two were too tall to include in the pic.
