These trees are just babies. They around 50ft (15m) tall and are most likely only around 15 years old.

Most certainly. It may not grow as fast there...because of the lack of heat; however, it still should grow relatively quickly.

I have seen photos of some fairly tall (maybe about 10m or 30ft tall) W. rubusta in the U.K....not exactly sure where they were grown though. Possibly in Tresco Gardens?
I do know the trees in the back ground would not grow outside in the UK at all. Ficus rubiginosa (Port Jackson Fig) which is extremely common here in coastal California. They're much too tender to cold.

I found the photo. They're not the best looking palms; however, they growing in east Yorkshire...if you know where that's located.

Not sure how cold it gets in that area of the UK. If there was a lot of snow, they probably wouldn't survive.

I reckon that they may well be toast too Mushy after the last three winters. Another from the same garden.............

The Mexican fan palms may be toast; however, the Jabaea chilensis (Chilean wine palm) would not be...as it's extremely hardy. Mature specimens have survived temps down to -14ºC (7ºF) without damage or minimal damage.

As wet as it gets in Yorkshire?

What's so nice about Chilean Wine Palm is that it will tolerate very cold, wet soil extremely well!
