Sweetcorn - Incredible

Sweetcorn - Incredible (Zea mays (Sweetcorn))

An update on my sweetcorn, I can't wait to be able to eat them and have no idea when they will be ready! (hopefully soon) I've noticed that the tassles are going brown a bit now so hope this is a good sign? :-) Lucy

Lucy,
Don't worry about the colour of the wrapping leaves which look purple(ish). It could be that you are growing the purple Zea mays which comes from Peru. In that case congratulations! I tried a couple of years ago and although the plant went to about 3 metres high, I didn't get any cobs.
The tassles going dry brown indicate that the cobs are ready to be picked.
Good luck (whenever you grew this).

What else?

See who else is growing Zea mays (Sweetcorn).

See who else has plants in genus Zea.
