Plant combination....am trying to decide if it's good or not?

I love contrasting shapes and colours in my garden, I’m not sure this one works well enough though..I’m debating whether to move the cotinus….any thoughts?

Thanks for the comments, i do like the colours, i suppose it's more that the cardoon is now so huge, it dominates everything...it's getting that balance right, thats the tricky bit! Anyway i think the cardoon will stay this year but maybe i will have to replace it with a less beefy specimen this winter.

I like the combination of colours. You could try an artemisia with very fine leaves to vary the textures.

Sometimes it is the third plant that brings the colours together. You can even repeat the colour in a lighter or darker tone.
