Snow or no Snow Ive made a start

I was already getting twitchy but after watching Carol Klein last night it made it worse . So when the sun came out a bit today between snow showers I got togged up and went to inspect the garden. As I have only managed a wee walk round up till now and I was amazed how little damage has been done to my mixed border inspite of 2 feet of snow and -15 for quite a prolonged period. But it is still to cold and wet for me to get down on hands and knees yet but I can see quite a lot of the old faithfull’s (Snowdrop’s and Crocus) peeping through.
So turn to the raised beds where I have been harvesting Carrots, Parsnips and Sprouts since they defrosted enough on Jan 1st sadly not in time for Christmas Dinner though and no work required there.
So into the Greenhouse and most of last years cutting’s seem to be doing well so I did a little bit of house work and then decided to plant this years Garlic in cells as recomended by Carol last night.
So I can relax with a cup of coffee now knowing that I have got a start and tomorow its online and order the seeds YAHOO !!!!

From the bad winters of years ago, I remember it was the deep snow that was a blessing it insulates the plants underneath so the frost cannot do its damage.

I agree ,Carol is an inspiration..she is a true gardener to my mind, and not just there for the camera..tatty old coat, soil covered hands..and just gets stuck in..I really enjoyed her programme, and it has spurred me on to make a start too..
