Cordylines?

North Lincolnshire, United Kingdom

May I ask a question please on behalf of my neice? She has asked me what to do about her Cordyline which was lovely last year and produces small flowers but this year it is just "woody". She asks should she cut it back or what? Much appreciate your help. Thank you Sue

Is she saying there are no leaves? Cordyline has a thin trunk with the leaves sprouting out towards the top, so if she's saying it's woody? If there's no leaves, it's probably dead.

any chance of a photo of it, if the top is dead she should cut the stem in half and that sometimes produces new growth futher down.

Thank you Bamboo and Stevebuk, I am much obliged for your answers and will now go to my e mail and pass them both to Debbie. Not sure about getting a photo as not seeing her very often as she works shifts but will try. Sorry to have such little information as not seen plant. You are both very kind Sue
