Hops and fences
By Mookins

have spotted an area where I can have the hops I was given that thankfully wont upset my veg or have to be grown in a pot.BUT its against a fence!! Now firstly will it give a terrible pong as ive read its quite strong smelling I dont want to upset the neighbours, secondly is it easy to control if it gets over excited (dont want it to be like ivy) and lastly does it cause major problems on fences?
Im trying my hardest to find a home for this and if all else fails Il give it away

Well it gets huge in a season, but it's not like ivy ,more like, say, virginia creeper or a grapevine. It'll need support and you'll have to keep it in check by looking weekly and lopping off where you don't want it. I can't say I've ever noticed a smell, unless you crush the leaves, but maybe that's just me.
