Do you mean 'Meadowsweet'?

If you DO mean Meadowsweet ( Filipendula ulmaria) I've had a clump of it growing at the back of my long border for about five years. I've found it to be only slow spreading, although it selfseeds quite merrily. If the soil was more moisture retentive, then perhaps it would spread more quickly. The rich green foliage makes a terrific backdrop for some of the taller Heucheras such as Florist's Choice or Firefly.
