Sweet Meadow

hi all has anyone ever grew sweet meadow in an area of there garden i love the heady scent of it but wud b wary of it taking over cud it b kept under control thanks!!

If you DO mean Meadowsweet ( Filipendula ulmaria) I've had a clump of it growing at the back of my long border for about five years. I've found it to be only slow spreading, although it selfseeds quite merrily. If the soil was more moisture retentive, then perhaps it would spread more quickly. The rich green foliage makes a terrific backdrop for some of the taller Heucheras such as Florist's Choice or Firefly.

hi jona and Bbb yes it is called Meadowsweet but as a child my granny always called it Sweet Meadow she used to take me down country lanes (where we lived ) and picked a bunch she always said "summers in the air the sweet meadow is in full bloom".thanks Bbb i always thought bout growing it in her memory will now plant it in garden
