I have an ornamental cherry tree which seems to have developed an infection

RENFREWSHIRE, United Kingdom

Recently I have noticed balls of sap on the trunk of my six feet high ornamental cherry tree which turn solid. After this the branches above dry out completely & die.
Any suggestions?

Sounds like a fungal disease to me. Cut off the dead branches and check the trunk for wounds and fungus infection. There are products you can buy to cover any wounds, but I suspect the tree will not recover if this is happening while it's so small.
Maybe others might not be as pessimistic as me! What do others think?

How do I say thanks?
