They're not poisonous, ornamental cherries are either sterile, or simply produce insignificant fruit. The fruit, if it appears, will be small, and mostly pit, and probably not especially sweet or tasty. Do you know the name of your tree? as I would not eat anything unless I knew exactly what it was?
