I have a peach tree with a good crop this year, will they ripen off the tree if I pick them early, otherwise birds will get to them.

I live in Dorset. the tree fruits like this about every 3/4 years, other years i get 1 or 2 peaches.

Yea, I was about to say the same - a friend of mine uses old net curtains, but it obviously depends on how big the tree is.

My mum used to put a net over the tree to keep birds off. Mind you she had it growing against a garage wall which made it easy.
