pruning my cordyline

please can you tell me how to prune my cordyline australis because its getting a bit to big we didnt plant it it was already there when we moved in a year ago thanks

i think you need a bit of luck
i chopped one years ago and it regrew six stems but three died off.
. it was a case of kill or cure as it was too tall. i did it in summer. it took about two months for the new growth to appear.

Yes, if you are going to replace it anyway you have nothing to lose from chopping it off to see what re-grows.

You can't really prune it unless there are 'babies' around the base. If there are, you can cut out the taller stem, otherwise you'll have to replace it with a smaller one.
