Scorched Privet Hedge

Part of my established privet hedge has been scorched when my neighbour stained his adjacent garden fence during the recent hot weather. Willit recover (next year perhaps) or will I have to replant?

So far as I know you can no longer buy creosote so, in theory the hedge 'should' recover! It is also possible the hedge just didn't get enough water during the heat. privet is a gross feeder and needs a lot of water!

depends what he was using on the fence - if it was creosote, that will have killed where it touched, if it was a more modern, water based treatment, then it should recover.
