is there a repellant someone could recommend?

get a net over it is the best way.keep it pruned so the cherries are in reach to be easier to put the net over it to.

The only other thing I've seen apparently working, is to hang a very realistic model of a hawk in the tree. Our neighbour has a model owl which seems to work! Though I've never tried it myself.
Netting is the only real solution.
