We sowed ours in April and they are just about ready for picking. The pods are large but when we squeeze them we can feel that the beans are still not quite bug enough.
We like large firm Broad Beans but I know that some people would pick them at the size they are.
Remember that Like in the north of Scotland so yours should be ahead of ours.
Sorry, Doogle, I hadn't read your intro before I wrote the above. If you haven't sown the beans yet then it is probably too late to get a crop this year but you can buy autumn sowing broad beans that will give an earlier crop next year.
