Is this a good time to saw off part of an Atlas Cedar branch? It's casting too much shade as it is and my planting needs a bit more light, which will be provided if I trim this branch. It's not very thick - about 3" diameter.

Yes, if it's casting shade. But take it off bit by bit as it will be very heavy and one cut may allow it to tear off. It's also quite prickly so wear gloves.
