How do you care for the miniature buddlea? I had 3 plug plants last year and only one survived the winter. So bought 2 more established plants this year and put in pots on the patio in full sun. They have flowered well and attracted many butterflies. Now looking a little sad. Should I leave them in their pots in a sheltered place for winter or would it be better to put in the garden? Also when and how do I prune them? Thanks

if you want to keep them in the pots then they will need winter shelter, have you a greenhouse/unheated conservatory /porch. if not then wrap the pots with bubble wrap, allowing for water drainage and put them in the shelter of the house.

Prune them in spring. remove any weak, dead/damaged branches and as it is a small plant that wil be enough for this year.

later as the plants get bigger you may need to reduce the main branches by half if you want to keep them small.
