What is the name of this plant?

Can anyone identify this plant? It has an unusual leaf shape, something like an oxalis but much larger. (The oxalis images on line all have flowers with five petals, this one has at least seven petals, so I doubt it is an oxalis). It was growing in a pot at the gardens of Valmer near Tours. It was next to a collection of salvias, but obviously not a salvia. It had no label, and when I showed my photo to the person in the office at the gardens she didn't know. I'm sure someone on GOY will recognise it!

If its Amicia, why has it got maroon flowers now, Bren? Or are they unrelated, Bertie?

That red flower wasn't there when I looked at the picture at breakfast time????? :-(

I,ll be honest, but I looked at pinky/purply leaf at the right hand side of the photo, which is typical of amicia,is it a flower or a distortion of the leaves. The flowers are yellow sweet pea like
click on images on Google page and type in amicia and see what comes up

Really Bulbaholic - now that's very, very intriguing - are you on a wind up Bertie?
Have checked the Amicia, think that's right - if we ignore the maroon flowers!

Definitely had those flowers, though I'll check on Amicia which I hadn't heard of. Maybe there's a maroon version. In fact, I've just found some pics doing a google image search for amicia zygomeris and this one http://www.wimtimmermans.nl/assortiment/afbeeldingen/amicia_zygomeris.jpg looks very similar, though the flower shape looks a bit different. I'd guess this must be it though, as the leaf shape is identical.
Thanks for the help esp. Bren. Could Bren tell me any more about the plant, for example what care it needs (greenhouse, or special protection?) I quite like the look of it and may try to get some seed for next year.

I think they are Cosmos, in fact I can see the leaves of it behind (top right). Never heard of Amicia before, will have to look that one up :-)
