I thought its body was too long to be a lily beatle and its more an orange/brown...Ive seen quite a few of them lately on various plants...there was 3 of them on a campanula stem yesterday...????...I thought it might be an adolescent earwig???.....OR an adolescent LILY BEATLE????

No, definitely not lily beetle - they're much squarer and very bright red. Been through my insect book and it looks most like something called Alosterna tabacicolour (some kind of longhorn or leaf beetle) but I can't see if it's got the long things sticking out either side of its head, doesn't show in the picture. Its apparently common on flowers, particularly umbelliferous plants. Harmless, I think. You can tell its pouring with rain here, can't you - I've got nothing else to do, stuck indoors!!

It's a Soldier Beetle, Rhagonycha fulva. It's good to have these in the garden as their larvae feed in the soil on small snails and slugs.

start breeding them you could make a fortune
