I have a lavertia in he garden which has been surrounded by other shrubs etc and not looked after, the roots are coming to the top of the soil and the trunk and branches have been searching for light so it sort of lays on its side, can i cut it right down to ground level and rebury the roots.

The shrubby lavateras often form a large lumpy looking areas of trunk at their base which aren't straight - these plants should be cut back hard around March or April, taking stems right down to a couple of inches.
