Is it possible to eradicate, or at least minimise worm casts
from lawns.

If you've got worms i wouldn't complain too much. They may produce those unsightly wormcasts but the fact that you have worms means that you've got good soil which can only be a good thing!!! But if you do want to get rid of them then just wait for the weather to go dry and rake/brush them off your lawn , etc.

it used to be possible to get an iron drench with does not harm the worms but as they dont like it very much they move to another area so you get rid off the casts

Give thanks, on hands and knees, that you have earthworms - why are you trying to get rid of them? Without them you will have problems growing anytihng...

Lucky you - they do a wonderful job of aerating the lawn, and the casts they leave behind are very beneficial to the soil - wait till they're dry and brush them to spread them out.

I agree with four of the above - welcome the earthworms, they are a major asset in your garden.

Oh and as a thought you can sweep up the castings to us in potting compost... having passed through the worm they should be sterile!

you could ajust your mower so it leaves the grass longer and they wont be quite so obvious

It means youre garden soil is healthy. I know they can be a pain and a mess, but all you need to do is sweep them away with a stiff broom.
