Growing Rosa rugosa alba in a container?

I should very much like to grow a variety of Rosa rugosa alba in a large container. Would this work?
Has anyone done it?

You could give it a shot if you want, but I doubt the rose would succeed and grow well - roses like to put down one or two very long roots deep into the soil (which is why it's almost impossible to dig them out if you want rid).
