Killing a Beech Hedge

Is it possible to kill a beech hedge. (I am told copper nails at the bottom of the stumps just above ground level will work, is this correct?) If so what products are available to carry out this work.

Saw it sown then paint SBK on the cut surfaces would also work. Still need to get roots and stumps out.
Seems a shame to kill a lovely beech hedge thou!

Hmmm! You need SBK. Wound the bases with an axe and paint the SBK into the wound (follow directions).
I think copper nails is a fallacy AND what a waste of nails too!
