Is it ok to plant my past it's best lillies into my garden? I want them to return next year .

I had loads of unidentified lily bulbs and I wanted to see what colour they were before planting them in the ground, I now know their colours and want to plant them. Should I plant them now and leave for a while and tehn cut them down? The flowers are now past their best.

If the foliage hasn't died back yet, I'd feed them in their pots and plant out in September. If the foliage has already gone over, plant them now.
