I agree with Wyeboy, use a professional.
I'm growing one in a tub, it's a 5' tall standard and 2" at the trunk base. Each spring I prune it back heavily.

By your description, I would think you need a professional tree surgeon. I planted one years ago and after about 5 years I pruned it hard back , each year it then produced huge leaves. Mine was the gold leaved variety and it made a stunning shrub.
