What do I do with an Yucca pod?

A friend gave me this pod type thing. She said it was a Yucca. Do I plant the whole thing of take it apart? Do I plant it and keep it inside or plant it outside? I live in Pa and it will be getting cold here in a couple of months.

I expect there are seeds in the pod, so carefully split it open and sow them in a gritty compost and put them on a windowsill or in a greenhouse. They may take a while to germinate so don't give up on them too soon.
