Shrubs for Tubs

Is there a small shrub suitable for planting in a tub?

Answers

Pieris do well in tubs . They will eventually grow to about 6 feet but can be pruned to any required size

"Forest flame" is a particularly beautiful variety which has gorgeous white flowers and beautiful red leaves

Here's one i planted in a customer's garden

There are some new varieties of Skimmia and Pieris which are much smaller and better suited to pot culture - have a look at Pieris 'Katsuro', for instance, or Skimmia 'Magic Marlot'.

Mexican Orange plant (Choiysa) works well and I like the leaf colour. A lot of 'tropical' planting work well in tubs. The Chusan Palm and has that 'different' look as does the Canary date palm. Acers do well in tubs, but are not evergreen. Picea Glauca are dwarf trees and I have 2 in a tub. Max height is about 1 metre or so after many years. They are often sold at Christmas time as dwarf live trees.

My neighbour has a beautiful large pieris in a surprisingly small tub . She does feed it very regularly though

That last post was repeated due to a computer error.

There seems to be no way to delete one of the posts!
