my shallots have not multiplied into single onions,buthave grown into larger onions with two or three shallots inside it, why?

Hi Francis, welcome to GOY. Many shallotts only divide into two or three. Yours have not dried out yet for easy division. This will remain as long as the roots are in the ground.
