First seeds; new year!

Jan 16th 2009 and the season is up and running ! Sowed my first seeds of the year today in the polytunnel we built over christmas. Mostly 4/5 kinds of lettuces and also a new red onion seed which I haven’t sowed before. sets are expensive, and I often sow the white onions from seed, I saw these in town, they are called Niort and thought I would give them a go.
Sunny day and it feels like spring could be coming in the weeks ahead. the birds were quite active which always make it more pleasant to work in the garden. Light now until around 6.40 pm.

sorry to hear it's still dark and grey up north of europe, i suppose that's why we're down here! though we're still getting frosts, but it always makes me feel better when the evenings start drawing out. doesn't it feel good to get back out there again though ?
re polytunnel, not at all, we put it up in a few hours, I suppose 2, from scratch, cost around 30 euros, which is around the same these days in sterling I believe. I'll post a picture, which I think is the best, saying that, we haven't made the door yet, so just have some plastic hanging down. it's our own design, but our old one which is still standing i must add, and has been moved from our old house, is around 12 years old now with the plastic being changed once.

Hi Lil, Sounds like Spring is just round the corner. I wish it was lighter for longer in the evenings where I live. Isn't it great to get back in the garden.
