Ignoring them is the best thing. Even if you get rid of the parts you can see, you would never get rid of the underground bits.

Try to love them! They make a fascinating change in the garden. The puffballs especially are amazing.

I like mine too so leave them, and, as Melchisedec says, getting rid of an extensive mycelium (posh talk for the 'root') is nigh impossible.
