"Pup" is a common nickname for the offsets of many plants, mostly cacti, succulents, or bromeliads. The offsets of bromeliads usually take 2-4 years to bloom, and will probably have "litters" of their own, in the process.

The main plant will die off, wait until there is a good root system then plant up the Pups as you call them? Or have heard them called. Good Luck :o)
