Feeding camellia in autumn
Devon, United Kingdom
I read that now is the time to water and feed camellia to encourage healthy flowering. But what sort of feed - general fertiliser or food for flowers? I often find that when experts advise 'feed', I'm not sure what type of feed they mean.

I can't remember where i read it, but the reason I do is because I planted one in a tub for my son in ericaceous compost in April and feel responsible for letting them know how to look after it.
From what you say, I will advise them to water well and then apply a
specialised ericaceous fertiliser in spring.
Thankyou Bamboo for your welcome advice.

I was wondering if it was in a pot, sounds like a good idea to use ericaceous - glad my advice is welcome;-)

I don't know where you read that ,but its incorrect - my book confirms what I already thought, which is "do not feed between midsummer and winter". Recommended time for feeding is spring, and with a general fertlizer like Growmore - unless you've got alkaline soil, in which case it'd be better to use an ericaceous feed. where did you read it?
Just want to add, yes of course, water is still necessary if we're not getting enough rain.
