Just acquired a Skimmia Reevisiana and would kike to keep it indoors until after Christmas. Will it suffer from the heat indoors? It is on.y about eight inches high at the moment and is in a pot.

'Will it suffer from the heat indoors?' Yes, absolutely - you will find any buds or flowers present will dry up, shrivel and drop off, followed presently by the leaves. Keep it outside and if you really must, bring it in for a short time at Christmas. If you do bring it in for longer than about 3 or 4 days, you will need to harden it off again before permanently leaving outside.

I can understand why you would want to do this as it can be quite festive looking!
If you are planning on leaving it in a pot I would put it outdoors for now then perhaps fetch it into a cool room for the twelve days of christmas, then put it out again!
IMHO.... Its up to you really, after all it is an outdoor plant!
