How to hide an electricity pole?

we have an electricity wooden pole in the centre of our garden - currently it is disguised by a shed - but we want take down the shed to creat a paved area - i am worried that the pole will look ugly? any ideas of how to cover up or create something around it to make it look more asthetically pleasing ???

Are you claiming wayleave from the elec. board for having their pole in your garden? It's only a few bob a year, but every little helps!

I'd leave some soil round the base, net or wire up the pole (if its wooden) and grow climbers up it, such as Clematis montana mentioned above (though not the Russian Vine!) possibly Clematis armandii too. Alternatively, not the montana, but Trachleospermum jasminoides and Akebia quinata. Or a wisteria - it would need to be well trained around the pole, and kept pruned back so it doesn't get out of hand, though.

Thank you so much for the suggestions - And no not had a penny from the electricity board - so will get on to it - was going to looking into having it moved but very exspensive!

My neighbour had the same problem. She widened part of a bed to incorporate the electricity pole. planted shrubs around it and grew montana clematis and russion vine (I think it was, anyway) up it. It looked so good, her husband refused to let the electricity board in to replace it. lol. I
