Sussex Wildlife Trust say you can use rabbit and other herbivore. (not dog/cats) When we had rabbits we did, I think the straw helped heat it up.

We compost the sawdust, well more chippings than dust, which comes out of the chicken shed.

Not too sure about adding sawdust Monardamad as it can take years to break down so ideally should be left to rot down first. Change your bedding to straw then you can. I thought of you yesterday in Rye the junk shops there had lots of tin bowls and tin laundry and washing tubs etc (even a wash board to go with them) which would look lovely planted up. Fruit and veg can be added as long as its not cooked first.

we have always composted the hutch droppings and all, and they do rot down. I mix it with the normal garden stuff and its makes a great compost so yes go for it.

Hi Monardamad If you have tin buckets etc you might want to put them on feet or wood (even a cork tile cut to fit the bottom ) as you might get rust marks on the concrete just a thought! They sound lovely its great to get finds like that. Look good grouped together?

hmm, good idea! although i doubt it could look any worse at the moment! theres a little wooden fold out table thats not good for much so i think i might make a little feature on it with some herbs by the kitchen door.
it is pretty satisfying getting somthing cute for practically nothing, although there have been times when i got a bit carried away (ie. i did at one point have more mirrors than rooms and they ended up back in the shops they came from)

Much more fun and defines you I always think. Have you heard of 'Freecycle net work' its recycled items for free Monardamad? I joined my area one yesterday. I have put my kitchen table on there and if someone wants it they collect for free and if you want something - Ian on here has just planted his free fruit bushes.
