I doubt any will be worth visiting in January as they will all be leafless though!

Kildermorie's right, they will all be leafless in January, sadly, Gudmundor.

Some have pretty bark, though.

and their branch shape is pretty. I've been to Kew in Feb and yes the acers are leafless but they are still interesting to look at. Kew is just fantastic at any time of the year really.

And the glasshouses are incredible, all different, I think the victorian one where you walk amongst the palms is one of my favorite, and I enjoyed the tree tops walk in the grounds too, the views over London with no leaves to obscure the view would be worth seeing too

Best thanks to you. Ill contact Kew gardens, Its good idea. I'm both looking and to buying few samples of plant and seed. Acers are always attractive to me. And in winter you can look at there shape, and colors of branches trunk and bark. But no leaves. And sometimes you can read the plant better, understand it when it is whiteout leaves. I´m on a visit to my son in London in januar and I like very much to get some insiders advise to London Acer trees, and spesially those from east. Like, A shiraswanum A japonicum A mono, A pseudosieboldianum and A palmatum. And others of that origin. Best thanks to you all, Gudmundur

You may be interested in the London plane tree,
I think that there are some at Kew, they are good at cleaning the air I understand that they were planted originally to help clean up the Victorian London smogs

Paramount Plants in Enfield might be worth a visit - they usually have quite a range of Acers. They are for sale, but the whole place is still worth a look. You can check the place out on line - they have videos showing what they've got there, and there's some really interesting plants.

To look at or to buy, Gudmundor? Whilst I cannot tell you where you might do either I would suggest the Royal Botanic Garden, Kew would be a good bet. Got to thier web site, http://www.kew.org/, and send them an email asking your question. There is a 'contact Kew' option at the foot of the home page.
