GardenBargains, anyone used them?

West Midlands, United Kingdom

Just seen advert for Oleander bushes, sweetly fragrant.. long lasting.. winter hardy. Sounds too good to be true, they look gorgeous too also evergreen and cheap! That's why I would like to know if anyone has dealt with this company. It's one thing sending card details to a company we know and another to send to one we don't

I am a bit slow this morning I 've just realised the company is called garden bargains. I've never heard of them either.

I saw the same advertisement and was wondering the same thing

I wonder if the newspaper or magazine in which the ads appear have any sort of check in place?

Must be new varities of Oleander. They are not completely frost hardy, maybe in the South, but I wouldn't waste my money. There are plenty of hardy and beautiful shrubs available from all sorts of reputable firms and good nurseries and garden centres.

Unlikely Bornagain unless they are taking the money and passing it on. Most magazines will accept adverts from anyone - it is how they make their money.

just had a good look at the site, and to be fair and reasanable, God NO

Another case of hype, I'm afraid - oleanders, as Wyeboy says, are not particularly hardy

If you're unsure about the company Bornagain....I wouldn't use it. Oleanders can be so difficult and unless they flower, not too attractive. I have two in tubs which I keep in the greenhouse in the winter and only one has flower buds swelling which I think are too late in the year to come to anything.

Thanks everyone, the old maxim holds true then. If it looks too good to be true, it probably is:-( I'll give them a miss:-)
