Goatsbeard Varieties??

I have two different plants of Goatsbeard (Aruncus) but they have dissimilar leaves. Both have the white plumes of flowers, this is the leaf on the older plant that was here when I moved in. The segments are even and opposite one another.

Thanks Bonkersbon! I'll take a closer look at the flowers as they bloom this year. I wondered how the leaves could be so different, but that makes good sense. Thanks again!

This looks more like Aruncus leaves - your other photo more like Astilbe . Aruncus much taller than Astilbe unless you have dwarf Aruncus.Astilbe flowers in spikes Aruncus tends to split into spreading fronds of white flowers.Astilbe sometimes called false goatbeard hence the confusion - two very different plants.
